    Hi,

That review was an exceptional piece of writing in itself.

I’m new to this site and have to say I am impressed with the quality of writing on here.

In regards to “On Writing”, I recall reading it some time ago and thinking how special it was. How often do you get to inhabit the mind of another person as well as you can reading Steven King’s thoughts – his ability to express himself and his characters are his strongest suit. His tips are something every writer would do well to read.

It’s a shame that his penchant for genre novels has kept him from receiving the critical acclaim he would have if he wrote traditional literature – acclaim that he fully deserves.

    Really great site.

If there was one book that I would make required reading for any and all budding writers it would be “On Writing”. It is simply the best advise about writing you will find anywhere, period. People pay $50k to get less education that King packs into that relatively little book.

In my humble opinion King is perhaps the most underrated writer of the past 100 years. Like Grizzly said because of his writing for a genre it has held him back. Not just “a genre”, but the horror genre in particular.
